Deerfoot Treehouse Farewell (For Now) Show

(message from Dave Thiessen)

It's been almost four years since that first show in our living room with Jeff Plankenhorn for a small group of neighbors and friends. Since then, our audience list has grown exponentially, and we have experienced many magic moments with some of the greatest musicians we are lucky to share this wonderful city with. Dave is retiring at the end of the year, and we don't know all the other life changes that will come. While you can never say never, we will at least be taking a long break. Thank you for your support of Austin music. We hope we have helped create some great memories. What better way to end this chapter than with The Reverent Few!

The Reverent Few are truly one of my favorite bands. They deliver a sizzling mix of soul, gospel, blues and rock & roll that both wows and touches you deep down. Nick James and Paige DeChausse met in 2011 as just two people in a band in Chicago. Starting with drinks at a whiskey bar after their first rehearsal, their mutual love of the music they were playing led to friendship, romance and a life together. Paige DeChausse's voice is an instrument of power and feeling that will make your eyes barely believe what your ears are hearing. Nick James came through Berklee College of Music, as did Jackie VensonDave Scher, and Warren Hood to name a few. His guitar playing shows that he not only has mastered the music, he is channeling it. The rhythm section of Ashlyn Shanafelt on drums and Christopher "Spanky" Anderson on bass round out the powerful sound of The Reverent Few

To get a taste of that power, click below for the YouTube video of their epic performance at ACL Moody Theater for the 2021 Black Fret Ball. The band was awarded one of the top $12,000 grants from Black Fret that night. Watch the video and you will understand why. Sarah Sharp & Mitch Watkins
Austin Band Camp
1:30 PM @ Mary Street

Explore “Making A Song Your Own” for all levels!

Sarah Sharp grew up in a musical family and only figured out that not EVERYONE could sing when she joined her High School choir. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music and getting her start in London, she established her life in Austin. From early jazz, to songs she wrote yesterday, her mesmerizing delivery will take you away. Sarah has enjoyed broad success with song placements in film, TV, and advertising. She is most known in Austin for her 7+ years singing with Slim Richey before his passing in Jitterbug Vipers.

Mitch Watkins discovered the guitar at age 12. By age 13, he was gigging in a surf band, and he hasn’t stopped since. He was a long-time guitar player for Leonard Cohen, right up until his passing. He has also played for years with Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Bob Schneider, Conspirare, and many others.

Sarah and Mitch hold a Tuesday residency at Elephant Room with their 5-piece band.
